Volkswagen Golf means you get robust performance and upright fuel consumption from either one, a petrol or diesel engine

Golf is an arrogant model of Volkswagen and even in the seventh generation, Golf follows the same MK1 platform which was introduced back in 1976. Volkswagen claims that the seventh generation Golf is a completely new package with list of Volkswagen engines, however, the reason for the identical looks is considerate. Volkswagen also says that the evolution of the design for the new Golf is continuously up and the company is refining it with every passing year. Tweaking and enhancing the car every year increasing its fan following multiple times.

Volkswagen offers a list of trims, depending on your requirements for performance, efficiency or power. You can opt for a Golf from 103bhp to 400bhp, a diesel, petrol or even a Hybrid version, an e-Golf or all electric, choice is always yours.

Volkswagen is offering six petrol engines and five diesel engines along with an all-electric powertrain for Hybrid lovers.

Volkswagen petrol engines range starting from a four cylinder 1.2 litre TSI engine which produces 83bhp, one of the least powerful engine. Next comes the same size engine with extended power output of 103bhp and a 1.4 litre TSI comes next in petrol engines list. It produces 120bhp, however, the hefty version of the same engine produces 138bhp and offers an Active Cylinder Technology.

This technology deactivates two central cylinders under the light loads and maximises the fuel efficiency and returns 59mpg on average. It has carbon emissions of 112g/km if fitted with a seven-speed DSG transmission.  GTI models are using this engine with both six speed manual and seven speed DSG transmission options.

There are five diesel engines available including 1.6 litre TDI to 2.0 litre TDI, specially tuned for Golf GTD models. These diesel engines have the capacity of generating 89bhp to 148bhp.   Same transmission options are available as of GTI models.

Most advanced common-rail diesel technology is offered to maximise the fuel economy and performance. All diesel and petrol engines have stop/start system and battery regeneration system.
