While police in the world is adopting super cars like the Lamborghini, Porsche and Bugatti to apprehend the outlaws, German police have selected the e-Golf instead

German police have taken an entirely different approach when they elected the Volkswagen e-Golf to join their fleet, they were asked to choose patrol cars. Quite frankly, it’s a dissimilar approach that does not go with the trend as globally police fleets have been joined by blazing fast supercars. German police are going green rather than superfast frenzy.

The all new Volkswagen e-Golf police car is making its debut at the International Trade Fair for Police Equipment in Leipzig. A piece of advice for the lawbreakers in Germany – don’t get any smart ideas.

The patrol vehicle is highly capable of carrying out day-to-day routine of police department and checks all the boxes as absolutely appropriate machine. And one more thing, you have absolutely no need to worry about its power as it is equipped with 115bhp electric motor which churns out enough torque to propel e-Golf from 0-37mph in just over 4 seconds.

It takes just 10 seconds to reach 60mph which is almost similar to Fiat 500 and gives the feel of a Volkswagen engine. Driving range is completely dependent on driving behaviours and payload, it is expected that the e-Golf will do 80 to 120 miles from every charge when driven by the stadtpolizei (City Police).

The e-Golf is well known for its powerful and very quiet powertrain that will travel the most part very quietly and will creep up on criminals. Even though its fuel economic but this package isn’t cheap at all as it is priced at almost £30,000.
