Shanghai Auto Show is about to start new era of motoring in china

Auto shows these days are getting more and more famous in the world, where every auto maker tries to find an event before they introduce any new model, technology or even a concept. Usually, auto makers prefer to showcase their new inventions, innovations or technologies in the same market to whom they set as a target market. For example, Audi, showcasing the new A6 L E-Tron hybrid for China and they have selected the Shanghai Auto Show for its first unveil.

Similarly, in previous months this year, New York Auto Show was on air with its full heat, numerous automakers from all over the world made their presence at the show. Most of the introduced cars and their models were for the USA markets only. Several automakers have also confirmed that their models will go sale globally.

Audi reserved its seats at the show floor with a best ever long wheel base A6 L for the Chinese market. The new e-tron model is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder Audi engine. It produces 211 bhp and 258 lb-ft of torque. However the electric motor produces 122 bhp along with 162 lb-ft of torque. It has an eight-speed automatic transmission, a lithium-ion battery pack provides 14.1 kWh power. The net output of the system is 245 bhp with 369 lb-ft of torque.

Then comes the BMW, how can BMW miss one of the world’s largest auto market. China alone produces more than 20 percent automobiles of the world’s total production. BMW at Shanghai Auto Show 2015 has no exceptions with the X-series with X5 xDrive 40e hybrid SAV for the first time anywhere in the world. BMW says that they are proud of their X5 plug-in hybrid.

Ian Robertson, a member of Management Board at BMW AG said that the new X5 has all the attributes of an SAV and it is a versatile vehicle, best ever carbon footprints and zero emission capability for the urban environments. It also has the best fuel economy where it can travel more than a 600 miles from a single fuel tank and a 30 miles from a battery charge. This technology is borrowed from i-series and will be distribute on all the models in the BMW line-up as standard.
