LF-SA is a striking Supermini concept and the smallest ever Lexus. It will take four years to be production ready

Audi A1 and MINI have a new rival as it has its eyes on the premium supermini market. The supermini concept was revealed on last Tuesday at the Geneva Motor Show. Lexus’s European boss said that the new Lexus won’t see a production ready model in the near future and it will take four or five years to be production ready.

It is still in the design studio and the team is further refining the concept. Lexus’s head of European operations said, “Everybody asks, when the car is coming to production? I say, you’re going to be disappointed – not in the next four or five years – just because it’s not in the plan.

We have just turned 25 – we are 25 years young. We are not an old brand and we wanted to celebrate this anniversary”, he said. “Why don’t we try to make a car for 2025? Where are the people going to live in the next 10 years? What is going to be vibrant in the next 10 years? It’s probably going to be cities.”

It doesn’t give the impression of being very small when it comes to real life manoeuvrability and usability around town. Lexus stated that city cars usually have only one person on board; the driver. Passenger seat allows the passenger to access the rear seat by sliding it forth.

Lexus said that the new concept is an emotional execution that shows the passion of Lexus in designing new vehicles. The new LF-SA has extreme levels of onboard connectivity, infotainment systems and safety features. Lexus has never ignored the equipment required for pleasant driving experience. Nothing has been confirmed about the engine options that what it will use as a source of power. A hybrid powertrain with petrol-electric combination is likely to go with the new LF-SA.
