Google self-driving cars will be on public roads in Mountain View, California this summer

Google has announced that the most modern mobility options are about to arrive in the world. The self-driving car will start cruising the public roads of Mountain View, California this summer Google has confirmed. It is the first time Google will be taking its own cars on the public roads.

Google has been testing these cars as a prototype since 2009. Now almost half a decade of testing, Google has decided to make them available from this summer.

Director of the self-driving car project at Google, Chris Urmson has stated that the car has been tested with 11 different variations in the last six years and he also said that the car was not the reason of accident it was once involved in.

The self-driving car has only two seats, equipped with seat belts, it has a space for passenger luggage and a screen that shows route and relevant information. But how a passenger will ask the car to drive? Yes! It has a drive button to start and stop the car. Surprisingly, the self-driving car has no steering wheel, accelerator pedal or brakes pedal. Worried? Do not worry, it is able to drive safely without all these things.

Google self-driving car has best safety features to make the ride joyful and comfortable. It has sensors to scan blind spots and see beyond these places. These sensors make the driving easy on the intersections. Initially, it has a top speed of 25 miles per hour and Google is about to test hundreds of more prototypes this summer.

Director of the project said that Google is looking forward to learn, how the community perceives and interacts with this new technology.

Google has already driven the Lexus SUV more than one million miles on autopilot and are averaging 10,000 self-driven miles a week.
