Dacia is establishing itself as a household brand in UK and its city car, the Dacia Sandero takes the number 2 spot in our list. The 1.2 litre engine costs just £5,995 and falls in insurance group 2 making it easy to insure for first time buyers. The top speed is 97mph with 0-60mph time of 14.5 seconds.

3-      FIAT 500

Fiat has been in the car industry for a very long time and knows how to make amazing cars with fuel efficient engines. Fiat 500 is one of the best cars out there right now and has won many awards. The 1.2 litre engine costs £10,010 and goes from 0-60mph in 12.9 seconds with a top speed of 99mph. It comes in insurance group 5.

4-      FIAT Panda

9-      Mazda 2

The Japanese car maker Mazda comes in at number 9 with its Mazda 2. The 1.3 litre engine will cost £10,995. It has a top speed of 104mph and goes from 0-60mph in 14.3 seconds. As with any Japanese car it is very reliable.

10-  Peugeot 208

Peugeot 208 rounds up our list with the 1.0 litre engine setting back £9,995. The top speed is 101mph with 0-60mph time of 14.0 seconds. It falls in group 5 for insurance.
