Vauxhall Corsa VXR Hits Geneva with 202 bhp

Vauxhall Corsa returned to the Geneva Motor Show with faster and more powerful 1.6-litre 202bhp turbo engine

Vauxhall has confirmed that the new Corsa will hit the hot hatch market with more powerful Vauxhall VXR engine and will target Ford Fiesta ST and Peugeot 208 GTi. The fourth generation of the Vauxhall Corsa was unveiled last year which offers more refined and powerful engines. Vauxhall has introduced the range topping Corsa at the Geneva Motor Show 2015 with a muscular engine to add some extra power to the model line-up.

Sources have confirmed that the latest Corsa VXR is more powerful and even faster than its rivals, Ford Fiesta ST and Peugeot GTi. The new Corsa will definitely give some tough time to these rivals in the market. The latest Corsa VXR engine is a highly praised and retuned version of the previous 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine. It even has a turbocharger and cranks 202bhp with 245-Nm of torque.

These basic figures are make the Corsa VXR more powerful than its closest rival Fiesta ST. Lets’ dive more deeper in the specs of this new monster, it clocks zero to 62 miles per hour in 6.8 seconds and continue pushing the Corsa VXR till it hits the top notch of 143 miles. Both of these figures are higher and quicker than its competitors.

This refined and retuned Vauxhall engine offers a bulky torque at the lower revs too which starts from 1900 rpm rather than 2250 rpm like on the models. It offers an over boost function to provide some extra oomph of about 35-Nm of torque that further increases the overtaking ability of the VXR.

When it delivers higher power drivers have to sacrifice the fuel economy. It returns 37.7mpg on an average cycle. It did not come even close to the list of environment-friendly engines because it emits 174g/km of carbon emissions, worse than any hot hatch available in the market.
